About
The immortal story of Romeo and Juliet performed by young people with Down syndrome.
This season, Divadlo Dúhadlo has brought a new production of Shakespeare’s famous story about two feuding families and young lovers whose love is stronger than an old quarrel. On stage are young people with Down syndrome who view Shakespeare in their own way – without excessive reverence, and with a natural theatrical language. Their production is lively, and together with the actors and actresses, the creative team unexpectedly turned the tragedy into a work full of humour – a successful comedy about love, misunderstandings, and great emotions.
Theatre Dúhadlo is a group of young adults with Down syndrome that has existed since 2006. Since then, it has created a dozen productions about the lives of people who are different and about taboo topics, several of which resonated at the national rounds of amateur theatre showcases (Scénická žatva, FEDIM...). Dúhadlo deepens the involvement of parents and siblings of mentally disadvantaged children in joint creative activities. The creation of productions contributes to the integration of people
