In My Dreams

An honest statement by Gen Z and Gen Alpha about the world we live in and the one we could live in. In My Dreams is the second production of the theatre featuring students of the Children’s Theatre Academy. Their thoughts have taken shape in the production itself – it is the result of their improvisations, discussions, etudes, movement and writing exercises. Traumas and embarrassments, utopian and realistic visions of how the world works, desires and jokes – it is all about them. And it is about you too. This collective authorial statement is made up of a sequence of images on various themes - from global crises to the most private dreams. Here, the 12+ generation is given a voice and shows what annoys them, what they fear, and what they would like to change. At the same time, however, hope is also heard: that not everything is as bad and bleak as it seems, and that perhaps something can be done about it. Are “snowflakes” really fragile and vulnerable, as people say, or are their fragility and sensitivity in fact their greatest strength? Ján Palárik's Theatre in Trnava is the regional theatre of the Trnava self-governing region, whose artistic activities address the cultural needs of audiences of all age groups. Its current repertoire includes productions for adults as well as productions for children and young people. The theatre’s dramaturgy maintains the legacy of Slovak and world classics, while also bringing valuable and provocative contemporary international works, often in Slovak premiere. One of the theatre’s main priorities is to educate children and young people in the field of theatre arts. For several years now, it has organised the Children’s Theatre Academy for children and youth under the guidance of professional tutors.
